The Dr. Wong's Essentials brand has been doing business in the Lone Star State of Texas since 2004. We started small with strong family values rooted in Godly faith. And, we still carry on with those guiding principles today.

How It All Started: the 1960's

Dr. Wong began his journey into health and exercise as a pre-teen. He studied and learned everything he needed to become healthier (overcoming chronic childhood asthma & bronchitis) and stronger in his body so it was better able to get and stay healthy. During his journey, he met several mentors who helped shape his ideal of what it meant to be healthy and to help others. He continued with his studies through his teens and early twenties; eventually becoming a Classical Naturopath and PhD Exercise Physiologist. It's this unique educational combination that has given him a more complete understanding of how the body works with nutrients as well as how it works with exercise.

Educators First

With his unique understanding of human physiology and vitamins/ minerals/ herbs, Dr. Wong started writing articles and creating radio shows so he could get as much of that information out to the public as possible. In the mid-late 1990's, that was our primary focus:

Get as much health and exercise information out there to as many people as possible.

Pre-Commercialized Internet

We started out in the pre "commercialized" internet with radio programs, short wave, lectures, and magazine articles. And then eventually studying in Germany on the use and application of systemic, proteolytic enzymes and then later lecturing to medical doctors in India on the practical application of systemic, proteolytic enzymes.

Commercialized Internet

Then in 1999, at the beginning of commercialized internet, we started one of the first natural health radio websites as well as a separate natural health articles website. These original websites contained over 400 radio shows and a hundred or so natural health articles. While the original sites have since been lost due to unsupported servers and other server upgrade issues; many of the articles can still be found on Dr. Wong's other informational websites and some of the old radio show content is still available on YouTube, PodBean and BitChute. During these same server issues, we also lost access to one of our websites that was devoted entirely to research studies on the medical use of systemic, proteolytic enzymes.

While it is a long tedius process of rebuiding these sites, we are currently in the process of developing a brand new "all-in-one" site that will have current/ updated articles, current/ updated radio shows as well as some radio programs where Dr. Wong was interviewed by the late strongman: Eric Fiorillo, who passed away pre-covid in 2020. We are also in the process of rebuiding our research site as well.

Contract Manufacturing

Through our own search to find nutritional supplements to help support our own bodies as well as bring us into increased health and function; we decided that we just didn't resonate with most of the supplements on the market. Dr. Wong's research had brought us to a different understanding of what the body needs to be supported in the most effective way possible and we just couldn't find that in the other products that we had used. So, in 2004 we stop settling and decided to evolve our company into our own line of nutritional supplements;

At that time, we began contracting with a well know contract manufacturer to make our supplements for us. Thru trial and error, over the next eight years, we moved our contract manufacturing to several different companies. Finally in 2012 we decided we wanted to have full control over our supplement line. Because our supplements are Dr. Wong's custom formulations that are based on the decades of work Dr. Wong did with his patients/ clients as well as the scientific research he has studied extensively in the course of his Naturopathic career; we wanted to make sure his formulations were being manufactured to his exact specifications. So.....

Expanding into Manufacturing

It was late in 2011 when we realized the full extent at which we had no control over what contract manufacturers actually did. With currect cGMP regulations, we are ultimately responsible for everything they do and we are required to inspect their records and manufacturing facilities. Even if a brand uses contract manufacturers to make their products, they are still responsible for ensuring cGMP regulations are followed by the actual manufacturer.

So in 2012, to ensure our supplements were being manufactured to our specifications using the ingredients (and suppliers) that we had tested to be the most effective available, we made the decision to start our own manufacturing facility. Yes, we wanted to have control over the process from sourcing raw materials to the finished product. After all, we were giving them to our own son! Even now, we still source the strongest, best possible ingredients we can find, keeping them in a strictly controlled environment until they are ultimately used in the manufacture of one of our products. Either Dr. Wong or myself is directly involved with the manufacturing process to ensure strict adherence to our formulas.

Yep, we are hands-on through the entire process!

Then I personally send off samples to a third party independent lab testing facility to ensure our own quality standards. We only want the best supplements for ourselves, our children, our families, our friends and for you!

More About Dr. Wong:

Texas Complimentary and Alternative Medical Association professional member and World Sports Medicine Hall of Fame member, Dr. William Wong is a Classical Naturopath, a PhD Exercise Physiologist, Certified Athletic Trainer (AATA), Certified Sports Medicine Trainer (ASMA), Old Rite Catholic Priest and Health/Fitness Consultant.

Dr. Wong has more than 50 years of professional experience in natural health as applied to sports medicine and rehabilitation. In the 1990's, he taught Physical Medicine at the South West College of Naturopathic Medicine. In 1993, Dr. Wong was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Wing Chun Kung Fu instructor of the year and in 2004, after 37 years in the Martial Arts, he achieved the rank of Grand Master from the Soke (Grand Master's) Council and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Martial Arts. The last 25 years, Dr. Wong's research, has been devoted to the application and teaching of Systemic Enzyme Therapy (SET). Studying SET techniques in both the US and Germany, Dr. Wong is widely acknowledged as one of the foremost experts in the field of Systemic Enzyme Therapy and his work in understanding the mechanism of action is the mainstay of all systemic enzyme therapy work around the world.

Dr. Wong has authored books on natural healing and on sports medicine. His shorter writings have appeared in such diverse magazines as G.Q, Black Belt, Survival Guide, The Townsend Letter for Doctors, Well Being Journal, BeautyWalk.com e-zine and Healthy Options magazine in New Zealand. He has been a guest on over 2000 national and local radio programs, and has appeared on the nationally acclaimed PBS series Healthy Living hosted by Jane Seymour and Heartbeat of America hosted by William Shatner.

Continuing to lecture across the USA, Dr. Wong traveled to India in the Fall of 2005, where he conducted seven different lectures before hundreds of physicians teaching OBGYN's, Plastic Surgeons, Thoracic and General Surgeons, Cardiologists, General Practitioners and Dentists on how to integrate Systemic Enzyme use into Orthodox Medicine. Currently, Dr. Wong works in research and development to create the Dr. Wong's Essentials® line of nutritional supplements, he hosts his own radio show and regularly appears on several other radio talk shows. Dr. Wong also communicates with individuals, specializing in the development of personalized programs for longevity and virility to help people overcome the effects of aging and the effects of chronic debilitating conditions.

As our knowledge base grows and our quest for increasingly better products grows, we may, at times change suppliers; offer a slightly different produt; or change a formula. Our research and development team is always on the lookout for new ingredients and monitors current research so we are able to keep up with current trends. We are a licensed manufacturer in the State of Texas.

 

The State of Texas requires all Texas based nutritional supplement manufacturers to be licensed in the state. And, then that manufacturer falls under the direct regulation of the Texas Department of State Health Services. Under this regulation, the manufacturing facilities are inspected to ensure cGMP compliance as it's dictated by the FDA. If any deficiencies are found, the State requires them to be corrected. If that doesn't happen, the FDA is contacted for further enforcement action.

In fact, Texas is one of the toughest states in which to be a supplement manufacturer. Why? Because:

      2. Regular manufacturing facilities inspections;
      3. Label inspections for cGMP
      4. Other business office inspections, and
      5. Website regulation.

Even if a brand has their products made by someone else (called contract manufacturing) they are still required to be licensed with the State of Texas and whatever their local address is is still open to inspections - even if it's a residence - and it must be in cGMP compliance.
